Well, winter’s here in West County. And you know what goes great with winter? Hot toddies. And this version is really tasty. I’ve substituted Bulleit Bourbon for brandy (the “Frontier” part of the Frontier Toddy) and licorice root tea for plain old water. Here’s how it goes…
4 or 5 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick or 3 of the tiny 1″ sticks you sometimes find
1 star anise
1 teaspoon of honey
1/2 to 3/4 of a cup of licorice root tea
1-1/2 ounces of Bulleit Bourbon
Combine the cloves, the cinnamon stick, honey and star anise in a snifter that can handle hot water. Add the tea and stir to melt the honey. Top with brandy. Squeeze the lemon wedge and toss it in.
Remember this one for when you’ve comeback to your cabin, stoked the fire and your girlfriend wants to put on her comfy pants.
