Quirky, a New York-based, product design incubator, recently put forward this concept for an updated matchbox. They call it Strike. Open one end for grabbing matches in bulk and striking them on the machined lid (if they’re the strike-anywhere variety). Open the circular door on the other end to remove matches one at a time. Opt for this route and the matches are automatically lit as they’re pulled from the case. Very clever.

This being a concept it’s not yet for sale, but you can go to Quirky’s site and tell them what you think it’s worth (by literally naming your price).
