I just spotted this VW Type 2 T3 Syncro DoKa via Expedition Portal. The ad states that it started life with a 1.9-liter gas engine and was “properly” converted from 2wd to 4wd. The engine is currently out of the truck and the seller is offering buyers a couple of different powertrain options: a 1.6-liter JX  gas engine or a 1.9-liter AAZ turbo-diesel with a Giles injection pump, K14 turbocharger, and ARP engine fasteners. Also offered, is a locking front differential in addition to the locking rear. The truck has also been treated to a full repaint and a new suspension. It’s reported to have covered only 80,000 km.

I love these drop-side transporters. This is a 3-door DoKa model. No build year is given but the seller states that it’s over 25 years old (making US import unproblematic). This mostly likely means it’s a 1985 model, which was the first year of the Syncro and the last year of the 1.9-liter engine, according to my research.

A lot of these trucks led hard lives. It’s nice to see one in such good condition.

The truck is being offered in Bright’s Grove, Ontario, Canada for $18,500 as is, $25,000 with the 1.6-liter JX and lockers, or $30,000 with the 1.9 diesel.

More photos after the jump.

There’s a fantastic-looking, 1985 Unimog U1700L/38 DoKa for sale near Seattle at the moment. This truck and its square-jawed brethren represent my favorite iteration of the Unimog concept. They look more purposeful than their round-nosed, 70s-era forebearers, and not as tall and ungainly as Unimog’s most recent offerings. The “L/38” means it’s a long-wheelbase version and “DoKa” is, of course, what Mercedes-Benz engineers like to call a crew cab.

This particular one, an ex-Swedish-Fire-Brigade truck — that’s “Räddningstjänsten” to all of you Nordic types — has just about every feature you could ask for: front and rear locking differentials, front and rear hydraulic winches (a 12,000 lb. Warn in front and a 20,000 lb. Braden in the back), a rear high-speed PTO, two-piece beadlock wheels, and an 5.7L turbo-diesel engine. Payload capacity? Over 3 tons—more than you can haul in three F350s combined!

Have you ever dreamed of stepping into a time machine and heading back to the 80s for a vintage Japanese truck? Well, it looks like someone has already figured this out, brought back a 1st generation Toyota 4Runner SR5 from 1985, and put it on ebay.

It’s a sub-100k-mile example with a 5-speed manual transmission, a 22RE, EFI (fuel injected) engine, and a solid front axle. The interior features SR5 seat graphics, a fun-looking set of altimeter and tilt gauges, and a factory pop-up sunroof and roll-cage. Of course, the truck also features a removable fiberglass top, a feature exclusive to the first generation model.

Let’s here it for time machine operators! I’ve never seen one this clean, this original, and this well-documented. If you don’t have a time machine of your own, you’ve got until tomorrow (Wednesday, 8pm PST) to place your bid. The high-water mark currently stands at $15,500.

Update: Sold for $17,400.
