This two-part video from YouTube channel LROR (Let’s Roll Off Road) shows two Pinzgauer 712 6x6s, two Land Rover Defenders, and a modified Suzuki Jimny tackling rough terrain on Mt Airy, northwest of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia.

It’s interesting to see how four-wheel drive compares to six-wheel drive over the same obstacles. Having six driven wheels doesn’t automatically make the Pinzgauers invincible but they can clear some ledges that the 4x4s just can’t muster. Lots of great footage here shot in beautiful, scenic country.

Here’s another overlanding video from Down Under. YouTube user Ronny Dahl takes us to Murchison off-road adventure park in western Australia with a few friends. There are five trucks in the video. It’s interesting to see how each driver handles the obstacles a little differently. There’s some nice drone footage as well.

Save this one for when you have some time. It’s an hour and ten minutes of overlanding action as three mates head up the wild east coast of Australia’s northern Cape York Peninsula.

When I say wild, I do mean wild. They’ve gotten permission to drive much of it along the beach and have to take tides into account when rounding rocky points and crossing rivers. That and, of course, avoiding the crocodiles while doing a bit of night fishing. It looks like a lot of fun.

In this video some guys from the Australian 4×4 magazine 4WD Action head down to Tasmania for some overlanding and camping. The trails are wet and tough, and it’s fun to watch them slog their way through. This classic Aussie stuff.

Here’s another short film from Adam Riemann, the guy who rode 7,000 kms through seven countries on a KTM 500EXC. In this video he hails the glories of the 2-stroke in the the form of the KTM 300EXC. It’s amazing how quickly covers rugged terrain on this bike. He goes over boulders and through streams like it’s a ride in the park. And some of the jump footage is just spectacular.

Enjoy.

Australian off-road motorcycle racer Chris Hollis enjoys a relaxing day at home in New South Wales, piloting his KTM around the back forty. Pay close attention at 0:36. That’s a nice move.

I like seeing a guy ride with this much speed and skill. Well done. And well shot by Shane Fletcher. The music is M83, “We Own the Sky.”

The Aussies know what they’re doing when it comes to overland travel. Here’s a great video of a bunch of guys with the Australian magazine, 4WD Action, heading up the Old Telegraph Track (known there as the Tele Track), a straight, 60+ mile shot up the Cape York Peninsula in northern Australia. They were the first ones up there this year. It looks like a very challenging trail with lots of mud and water crossings.

I made a map of all of the water crossings they mention in the video. To see it, read the rest of the post.

It’s times like this that you really want to trust your snorkel install and waterproofing job. This video is from New South Wales, Australia via YouTube. Once your windshield wipers are under water, you know you’re in deep.

This fantastic Land Cruiser promotional video from the early 1980s, called Getting Through, demonstrates various driving skills filmed throughout Australia. It features footage from sandy beaches to snowy mountain tops and covers the following:

Rocky terrain
River crossings
Beach and dune driving
Winch anchoring
Snow driving

The tips and techniques (many of which were new to me), and animated illustrations are excellent. The vintage TV-detective-show soundtrack and mustaches are hilarious.

Very informative, very entertaining, and highly recommended.
