Very interesting story from YouTuber “Colorado Backcountry Adventures” who has been living and traveling in the west for about five years. He relates in the video that this experience was the strangest thing that’s happened to him in that time.

Here’s the story of a Camel Trophy barn (or field, rather) find in Colorado. According to the story, surviving the 1993 Malaysian Camel Trophy was just the start of its rough-and-tumble odyssey.

The post has some nice detail shots of what an old Camel Trophy truck looks like.

The folks over at /DRIVE, and their RideApart team, have put together a video of some Colorado back-country winter riding on board a KTM 990 Adventure. It looked like it was a bit of a handful in the snow without studded tires.

Good video though and some amazing scenery.

Here’s another nice, vintage 4×4 find: a 1969 Toyota FJ40 showing 52,000 miles on the odometer. The ad states that it’s equipped with its original 3.8l, F145, straight-six engine and an old-school, three-on-the-tree, manual transmission. Other nice, stated features include dual factory heaters and jump seats.

The ad states that this FJ40 was treated to a frame-off restoration in 2006 with minimal miles since then. The white-on-beige color scheme is classic-looking plus.

The truck is located in Colorado and is being offered by a dealer on ebay. Bidding currently stands at $14,600 with about 4 days left on the clock. There’s no “buy it now” button but the ad states they’ll sell it for $22,000.

More photos after the jump.

Update: The truck generated a high bid of $18,200 but the seller ended the auction early and cancelled all bids.

Expedition Portal just covered this video by a group called Backcountry Discovery Routes. Their goal is to preserve off-highway routes for dual-sport motorcycle travel. This video is about their trip through Colorado, though other routes are in development.

We just completed our own trip down the California Backcountry Discovery Trail (so named by the Forest Service), which I’ll be writing about in the coming weeks.
