There’s a very nicely built FJ60 Land Cruiser for sale in Los Angeles right now. This one has ditched the inline six in favor of a CARB-legal, Chevy 350 V-8 crate motor. The suspension has been upgraded as well to Fox 2.0 reservoir shocks. Other highlights: on-board air with a 2.5-gallon accumulator tank, dual batteries, rear diff. lock. The list goes on.

This FJ60 has 320k miles on the body, 20k on the motor and drivetrain. It’s located in Claremont, California, and is being offered for $21,000.

This 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 was treated to a Stage 2 restoration at Southern California’s premiere Land Cruiser specialist, TLC, in 2001 according to the seller on ebay. Included in the rebuild was a fully-integrated 5.3L Vortec V8 (churning out 285hp and getting better mileage than stock) and a set of ambulance doors. The cost of all this work is reported to have exceeded $100k.

It’s now for sale in North Carolina. This looks like a great opportunity to own rebuilt Land Cruiser from the best in the business, without the high price of entry or long wait times.

The bidding currently stands at $23,100 with six days left on the clock.

Toyota has devoted a section of its global website to Land Cruiser heritage. I really like this shot of the FJ60. Beige paint over grey steel wheels, that’s a good look.

Jonathan Ward, of TLC and Icon fame, shows off what he calls a “142,” basically an FJ62 on an 80-series chassis. This truck was built through TLC, his Land Cruiser restoration shop in Southern California.

As you can imagine, this was an extensive rebuild. Even the engine was replaced with a GM Vortec unit. They went through the truck inside and out and everything looks to be first class.

Update: I called TLC to see how much a remixed Land Cruiser like this costs. They said it varies from vehicle to vehicle, since it’s a custom project but gave a ballpark figure of $120,000.
