In this video the Australian guys from All 4 Adventure show off the mods to their Toyota Land Cruiser 200-Series ute, which include front and rear winches, extra lithium batteries, bumpers, lights, air compressors, an updated electrical system and suspension, and some cool storage solutions.
These guys were involved in a recovery rollover a while back while trying to get a truck out from a rising tide. The video is quite hairy and is a good illustration of how problems can compound, if you’re not careful. It’s worth a watch.
Scott Brady posted a great article on Expedition Portal the other day detailing his 10 commandments of overland vehicle mods. The summary? Keep it simple. Keep it light. Focus on quality suspension and terrain-appropriate tires. The article is definitely worth a read.
We’ve prepped our Mitsubishi Montero to handle journeys of a several hundred miles or so. It’s interesting to see how people who travel tens of thousands of miles prep theirs. The couple behind the site Land Cruising Adventure have a page devoted to the modifications on their Land Cruiser BJ45. It makes for informed reading.

In these two videos, South African 4×4 expert Andrew St. Pierre White puts 30 years of off-road experience into building a Land Cruiser 70-Series. He aims to create the most robust and simple-to-operate rig he can.
The first video shows the build, which includes a custom interior, roof-top tent, and suspension modifications.
In second video, he and his daughter take the new Land Cruiser out into the bush where Andrew goes into further detail about the trucks features, including the newly fitted turbo-charger.
